9 Year Old Suspended for Calling Teacher "Cute"

“It’s not like he went up to the woman and tried to grab her or touch her in a sexual way,” Ms Lockett said. “So why would he be suspended for two days?”


On Wednesday, Chiquita Lockett received a phone call from the principal of her son's elementary school with some news that would upset her. The comments made by Emanyea Lockett earned him a 2 day suspension for calling his teacher "cute." The principal claims his actions were "innapropriate behavior" and "a form of sexual harrasment." Emanyea only in fourth grade, is confused as to why he has to be punished and sit at home for two days. He told reporters that "I was talking to my friends and I said Miss Taylor was cute." According to several sources, the conversation Lockett had with his friends was overheard by a substitute teacher who reported it. In an interview Lockett's mom told a reporter she was surprised by the suspension because she felt her son didnt do anything inaapropriate. The district's Code of Conduct doesn't list "inappropriate behavior," but says "disruption of school" is punishable by five days of out of school suspension.


I think this boy's punishment is absolutely absurd. Kids say stuff all the time without thinking, and the thing is what Emanyea said wasn't even "inappropriate." The teacher who reported it took it way out of proprtion and getting this boy suspension. There are plenty of kids who make comments like that who don't get in trouble, but why does he have to be punished for something as  little as this? It's not like he touched the teacher or was blatantly inappropriate, he just made a comment like any other 9 year old boy would. The teacher hasnt even commented on the situation. She could see this as a cute harmless comment the little boy gave her. I just don't understand why nowadays so many things are blown out of proportion and taken so seriously. There are so many other things that should be focused on instead of this comment. Hopefully Emanyea will be careful what he says now so he won't get in further trouble for something as little as this.

Jason Bitz case

"I just want JJ back, that's all I want," said his sister, Krista Bitz, 24. "JJ was not a threat to anybody."

"I didn't think he was a cop," Toth said. "He had pajamas on."

23-year old, Jason Bitz was shot and killed Halloween morning during a confrontation with an off duty Santa Anna police detective. According to Bitz's sister, Jason was far from perfect. He grew up in a rough life, moving constantly from motel to motel with his mom and sister. Prior to his death, Jason had been arrested for charges of drug posession and driving a stolen vehicle. The detective who is yet to be identified, walked out of his home and saw Bitz trying to steal a van outside of his home. According to Garcia, the owner of the vehicle, he had given Jason permission to borrow the vehicle. The detective claims Bitz reached for his waistband before he shot him, but Bitz was unarmed. After the confrontation, the detective got in his car and chased after Bitz. AFter a few blocks, Bitz got out of the car and somehow got in the front seat of the detective's car. Bitz then reached for his waistband, causing the detective to fire four shots.  Bitz was shot multiple times in the chest and arm. The detective responsible for Jason's death returned back to work after briefly being placed on administrative leave. While the detective is back at work, Bitz's family is having a hard time dealing with their loss of "JJ."


I think it's so sad that Jason was killed when in truth, he wasn't doing anything to deserve to be killed. As an off duty police officer, the detective felt obligated to intervene in something he saw the could have been wrong. But that's what seems to wrong in a lot of cases nowadays. Before having any proof that someone is comitting a crime, the government comitts a crime their self. Jason was innocently going to a borrowed car adn the aggressiveness of the officer provoked him tor react the way he did. Something needs to be done to stop innocent people from being killed and police not being punished. The officer only got a slap on the wrist and wasn't punished for Jason's death. It's not for to Jason and his family for the grief they are going through right now.

Penn State Child Rape Scandal

Former Penn State University football assistant coach, Jerry Sandusky has allegations made against him over an allege cover-up of incidents that occured at the university. Sandusky, a long time defensive coordinator, under head coach Joe Paterno, retired in 1999 but remained access to Penn State's athletic facilities. In 2011 a Penn State janitor names James Calhoun witnessed Sandusky  in the football showers, performing oral sex on a boy between the ages of 11 and 13. He reported the incident to the immediate supervisor, Jay Witherirte, but he passed it along to neither school nor police officials. Another witness, Mike McQueary, told Paterno that he had seen Sandusky sexually assaulting a 10-year old boy in the shower facilites. Paterno then reported the allegations to Penn State athletic director Tim Curley. In Novemeber 2011, Sandusky was arrested on 40 counts of molesting eight boys over a 15-year period. Also, Curley and Vice President Gary Schultz resigned after being charged with failing to report the incident to police and lying to a grand jury regarding what they knew about the incidents. On November 9, Pater announced he would retire at the end of the season but hours later Penn State trustees fired him and forced Spanier to resign.

I am extremely disgusted by this case and even more creeped out that Sandusky got away with so many times of molesting innocent young boys. It's crazy to think that the supervisors of Penn State football didn't doa nything to stop it. With all the complaints and reports made there should have been something done. I personally don't think that Paterno is fully at fault because he did report it. Since he didn't actually see it, taking matters into his owns hands would just make things messier. That's the problem in todays society, people step into other people's business when really the subnject of the matter has nothing to do with them. I think Paterno did what was right by reporting it and not fully intervening by personally contacting the police. Paterno should not be punished like he is because he did what was right at the time.

Texas Judge Beats Daughter In Video

A video of a prominent Texas judge beating his daughter has surfaced the internet. He's beating his daughter with a belt and cursing at her, but he claims he was simply disciplining his child and did nothing wrong. Hillary Adams, the daughter who is seen being beaten in the video, secretly recorded the beating seven years ago and recently uploaded it to youtube and it soon became viral. Both Hillary and William Adams have said the beating took place as punishment for then 16-year-old Hillary illegally downloading from the internet. It was shot in 2004 by a secret camera Hillary set up when she anticipated her father might beat her. She said the beatings were a regular part of her life during those years, but she did not publish the video until now because she feared it would incite more violence, according to the interview. What's ironic is that her father is a judge and does cases solely on child and sex abuse.

I think its absolutely absurd that he beat her to this extent and this wasn't the only time that it happened. Child abuse should be stopped and the victims absuers shouldnt get off so easily like this judge. The fact that the judge is a judge for cases like the one he is involved in is really ironic. He puts criminals behind bars for committing crimes like the one he has committed upon his own daughter. I dont think he should be back allowed being a judge because it's too contraditctory. I hope the daughter gets the help recovering from this abuse and that the father will be punished so cases like this can be prevented.

Search for Missing Arizona Girl Isn't Getting Proper Attention

"The Glendale Police Department has not brought this to the forefront. They botched this investigation," Johnson told reporters. "I believe it's because she's a little black girl."

"I don't think it makes a difference whether she's white, black or green. If there's no leads, there's no leads," he said. "Sometimes it's a dead end."

The grandmother of missing 5-year old Jahessye Shockley, who has been missing for over a week, pleaded to police that her case isnt getting as much national media attention as it should. She also claims that the police are not giving the case as much attention because the little girl is black. Jahessye was last seen on Ocotber 11 by her three older siblings at their Glendale apartment in the suburbs of Phoenix while their mom was running an errand. There are no positive leads as to whether she was taken or simply walked off from the home. The police believe she left the home through the front door but dont know what happened next. They have no suspects, evidence, or promising leads despite the efforts of local volunteers to search for missing girl in the area near her home.Her grandmother still strongly belives that the reason she hasnt been found yet is because her granddaughter is black. Jahessye's grandmother, Shirley Johnson and more than a dozen of her friends and neighbors went to the state capitold in Phoenix to try and draw more attention to the case in finding the girl alive. Authorities say that if the girl had some type of accident, they would have found her by now. The fact that they havent found her leads police to assume a possible kidnapping. "It is our belief that if she would have just simply walked away and not been interacted with anybody that might have had the wrong attention, we woulf have found her by now," Coombs said.

I think its tragic that this little 5 year old went missing and she hasnt been found. The fact that grandmother thinks since Jahessye still hasnt been found because she is black, could have something to do with it but then again theres barely any evidence of anything police can act on. In a lot of cases though, race does have a lot to do with the amount of attention the case gets. For example, the Casey Anothy case with her missing daughter Caylee, was in the news and media for weeks and got the attentino of the whole world. Now in this case there's not as much attention because the severity of the case. I do think that though that police should try harder to find missing children. But then again its also parents responisbility to monitor where their children go. Nowadays people are too leinit with letting their kids do and go whereever. I hope police find the missing girl alive and safe.

40- year Fugitive Hides in Georgia

"It was a shock to me when I heard about it," Robertson, 59, said. "I was like that's not Mary. She wouldn't do nothing like that."

They asked her how (her husband) treated her. She said they got along, raised their kids," Robertson said. Rivera had indicated that her husband had slapped her once but "that was it," Robertson said.


In 1970, Mary Ann Rivera was 36 years old when authorities in Texas said she killed her husband Cruz Rivera by throwing a pot of hot grease on him in October. After posting a 10,000 dollar bond, she fled with her three children, including two twin sons. She ended up in Georgia where worked as a waitress, raised her kids, and made friends like  nothing had happened prior to their flee. For four decades she remained a fugitive but rececntly she was tracked down in her apartment in Lake Park, GA. She is now 76- years old, and will still be charged for the murder of her husband 40 years ago. Rivera's arrest shocked her friends and neighbors back "home" in Georgia. Based on the report back in Texas, there was no partiular motive as to why she killed him, so in truth it looks like a heartless killing.


When I first read this article it drew me in because I never thought someone could get away with murder aand go in hiding for as long as fourty years. Also what shocked me the most was that there was supposedly no altercation or any matter that would provoke her to do such a terrible thing. In n interview she said that her and her husband got along well and that her husband only slapped her once, so its not like it was an ongoing thing. Not saying that him slapping her once justifies what she did, but its not like he tried to kill her. No one really knows what really  happened that day besides Mary Ann and Cruz before he was killed. It's scary to know that someone who committed a murder so long ago could get away with it and live a normal life in disguise for so long. I think our government and law enforcements could have tried harder to do something to find her sooner because she could have done the same to another man and got away with it.

Steve Jobs

As most of the world is aware, founder of Apple Inc., Steve Jobs died last Wednesday October 5. Jobs' death wasn't unexpected, but it was dreaded by Apple's legions of fans. He had battled cancer for years, took a medical leave from Apple in January and stepped down as chief executive in August because he could no longer meet his duties and expectations. The world is still in shock over his death and especially the apple family will take some getting used to with him being gone. In 2003, Jobs discoveref he had a neuroendocrine tumor, a rare but operable form of pancreatic cancer. Instead of him immediately choosing to get surgery,, he chose to alter his pescovegetarian diet while undergoing Eastern treatment options.For nine months, he postponed surgery making Apple's board of directors nervous that shareholders would lose stock interest if they found out their CEO was ill. But in the end, Jobs' didn't let it hold him back and he took precedemce over shareholder disclosure. In 2004, he had a successful surgery to remove the pancreatic tumor, but in years to come, the tumor would reappear.


I think it's so sad that Steve Jobs' died at the peak of his amazing life and at the young age of 56. He was such an intelligent and creative man that created so many things that will be used decades from now. The amazing invention of the ipod to the iphone and ipad have changed the world and technology in so many ways.  I remember when I got my first ipod, I was so amazed by how cool it was and I always enhoyed using it. Apple itself and all of its creations have helped technology emerge and grow with the rest of the world. Steve Jobs legacy will live on forever and his dreams and new idea will continue to be made into inventions. I'm so lucky to have used the amazing creations of Steve Jobs.
